How to catch Pokémon faster in Pokémon GO

Do you ever feel that the “Catch Animation” after throwing your Poké Ball at the Pokémon is an agonizing wait and total waste of time? Are you interested to find out a way to skip this time-wasting animation and catch Pokémon quicker and faster? Read on to find out how! This is a very useful trick in a number of situations:

  • Events like Community Day that spawn a large number of Pokémon, some of which may be rare. You want to be able to quickly catch all of them to gain Candies of rare Pokémon spawned.
  • Items like Lucky Egg and Star Piece are activated. These items increase the rate you gain XP and Stardust, but last for only a limited time, so you will want to catch as many as you can before the item effect runs out!

Follow these steps (for players who catch Pokémon with RIGHT-hand finger):

Step 1: Click on a Pokémon on the map to enter the “Catching Pokémon” screen.

Step 2: This trick requires both your hands to perform. You can consider to use a Berry to reduce the difficulty of catch if the Pokémon displays an orange or red color circle (i.e. catch difficulty).

Step 3: Use a finger on your left hand and hold on to the Poké Ball icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Do not release your finger.

Step 4: Slide to the left (do not release your finger).

Step 5: Place your right-hand finger on the centre of the screen. A Poké Ball should appear on your right-hand finger.

Step 6: Move your right-hand finger in a circular motion to spin the Poké Ball.

Step 7: When you are ready, release your right-hand finger to launch the Poké Ball towards the Pokémon.

Step 8: Once the Poké Ball hits your target, release your left-hand finger. The choice of Poké Ball will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click the centre of the screen and an “Exit” icon will appear on the top left of your screen. Click the “Exit” icon to exit the “Catching Pokémon” screen.

After releasing your finger on the Poké Ball icon
“Exit” icon appears on top-left of screen

Step 9: Your screen should switch to the map now. Click on the Pokémon on the map that you were trying to catch. If the Pokémon was caught successfully, it should disappear from the map upon your touch. If the catch was unsuccessful, you will again enter the “Catching Pokémon” screen. Repeat steps 2 to 8 above until you are successful with the catch, or give up and move on to the next Pokémon on the map.
