Hero of Zama
(236 – 183 BC) – 53 years
Rarity: LEGENDARY
Civilization: Rome
Talents:
Scipio Prime also known as Scipio Africanus was a Roman general and stateman, born to an esteemed noble family. His family had produced a number of Roman consuls, and he had seized Spain for the Roman Empire in his youth, driving out the Carthaginians.
The peak of Scipio’s military career was during the Battle of Zama in 202 BCE. Through judicious use of tactics, he neutralized the threat of Carthaginian war elephants and broke through Hannibal’s formation, exposing the Carthaginian army’s flanks and laying the groundwork for a Roman victory. Though Scipio’s armored infantry were lacking in mobility, their ingenious use of formation allowed them to defeat the Carthaginians.
By this point, Scipio had driven the Carthaginians out of Spain as well as from their own lands, defeated the “Father of Tactics” Hannibal Barca, and forced the Carthaginians into a peace agreement with Rome, brining victory to the Romans in the Second Punic War.

Review of Commander Scipio Prime:
- Scipio is currently one of the best (top 2) infantry primary commanders for open-field battling in RoK, with an active skill damage factor of 2000 and 30% target health reduction effect.
- Due to his high skill damage and skill boosts to infantry troops, he is also highly effective as a Secondary Infantry Garrison Commander, often paired with Flavius Aetius.

Best Commander Pairings for Scipio Prime:
- Open-field: Liu Che (Scipio Prime as primary commander)
- Open-field: Guan Yu (Guan Yu as primary commander) – Scipio’s Expertised skill increases growth of Rage by 30% when target is Silenced and Guan Yu’s active skill has Silence effect.
- Infantry Garrison: Flavius Aetius (Flavius Aetius as primary commander)
- Open-field: Harald Sigurdsson (Harald as secondary commander) – Harald’s fourth skill (“Stamford Bridge”) allows him to trigger his active skill more than once (on average) in every skill cycle. When combined with Scipio’s Rejuvenate talent (instantly restores 150 rage whenever a skill is used), this results in Scipio having more Rage to trigger his devastating active skill damage and health reduction debuff.
- Open-field: Alexander the Great (Alexander as secondary commander)
- Open-field: Charles Martel (Charles as primary commander) – A 5511 Charles will do well with Scipio as Charles provides tankiness/toughness and his first skill provides 30% increased damage for 4 seconds. Enemies usually do not choose to target/swarm Charles Martel and hence he is a good choice (as primary commander) to pair with Scipio
- Open-field: K’inich Janaab’ Pakal (Pakal as secondary commander) – Scipio Prime is commonly targeted by enemies as ignoring him on the battlefield will hurt them. An Expertised Pakal provides tankiness/toughness to Scipio with his fourth skill (“Holy Tree’s Blessings”) which reduces damage taken by up to 40%.
- Open-field: Sun Tzu (Sun Tzu as secondary commander) – Sun Tzu’s fourth skill provides 20% increased skill damage, his second skill provides 10% damage reduction and 10% increased health to infantry units, and his Expertised skill deals a Damage Factor of 800 to up to 5 targets and generates additional Rage. All the benefits above from Sun Tzu are obtainable from other legendary infantry commanders, but the point is an Expertised Sun Tzu is easy to obtain.
