An introduction to the Ceroli Crisis event in Rise of Kingdoms, and some tips on how to beat the Chieftains with ease.

PARTICIPATION CONDITION

This event is open to all at City Hall level 10 or higher.

CEROLI CRISIS EVENT INTRODUCTION

There are a total of 5 Chieftains to challenge. You have to pick a Chieftain and difficulty level to challenge. Each difficulty level has a minimum Power requirement which must be reached before starting the challenge.

DifficultyMinimum power

You can choose to be matched with other players to form a team in this challenge, or you can invite other players to your team by sending an invitation link in any chat channel.

For each challenge, you will be joined with 3 other players to form a team of 4 against the Chieftain. At the start of the challenge, each player will dispatch one troop only. The challenge will either end if the Chieftain is defeated, or reset if all players are defeated. All wounded units will be healed once the battle is over.

EVENT REWARDS

In this event, you can earn rewards from defeating each Chieftain, if you manage to deal at least 1% of total damage dealt by your team and you do not leave mid-way through the battle. The greater the damage you deal to the Chieftain, the higher your chance of receiving more rewards. However, you can only earn rewards once from each Chieftain, no matter which difficulty is selected. You will be able to earn rewards from the same Chieftain the next time the event comes around again.

Note that the following bonuses do take effect in the battle with the Chieftains:

  • Buffs from equipment;
  • Alliance skills;
  • Alliance technologies;
  • Alliance titles;
  • Individual technologies;
  • Commander talents;
  • VIP bonuses;
  • Civilization bonuses;
  • City buildings;
  • City themes;
  • Holy sites; and
  • Runes.

Buffs from items such as Enhanced Attack, Enhanced Defense, and Army Expansion do not work in the event.

Rewards for defeating the Chieftains include Ceroli Coins, Ceroli Chests, and equipment forging materials. A Ceroli Chest provides a random weapon or leg armor blueprint fragment chest (type and quality chosen at random). Ceroli Coins can be exchanged at the Event Shop for a range of items:

The Event Shop in Ceroli Crisis allows you to exchange for items such as Keira Sculpture (to unlock Keira, a Peacekeeping Commander who can excel in leading archer units).

ROLE & SKILLS

As with other Scenario Battle Events, you will need to set up your Role and Skills before you commence the challenge:

CHIEFTAINS IN CEROLI CRISIS

Note: All Chieftains have the “Royal Bloodline” ability, which basically means it is game over for you if your team fails to defeat the Chieftain within a set time limit.

HOW TO BEAT KEIRA IN CEROLI CRISIS

  • Keira is one of the easier Chieftain to beat in Ceroli Crisis;
  • I would recommend using cavalry troops and cavalry commanders against Keira for added mobility, as you need to move around the battlefield quite a bit in the battle against Keira;
  • Watch out for her ability “Endless Dusk”, which can hurt you pretty bad. Before she launches this ability, look out for the cue from the player who is defending against Keira’s attacks (“Quick, enter the veil!”). Following the cue, two blue bubbles will appear on the battle field. Cease your attack and make a dash into the area under the bubble (pick the bubble closest to you to be safe). The bubble will shield you from Keira’s devastating arrow-rain skill;
  • At Hard mode and above, Keira has a new skill “Curse of Jealousy” which targets a random player and causes him and his surrounding players in a circular area to take damage and debuff. Once you see the cue from the player (“I’m gonna blow! Get away!”), the player should move away from his team members immediately to avoid causing damage and debuff to his team.

ASTRID

While in Spear Stance, expend 2,000 Rage and deals direct damage to all enemies in a forward-facing fan-shaped area.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-130.pngPuncture Wounds
While in Spear Stance, any target struck by Astrid’s skills will be debuffed by 60 seconds (increases the target’s Continuous Damage Taken by 500%). This effect can stack, and each stack will refresh duration of the entire stack. This effect cannot be removed.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-153.pngWays of Fire (unlocks at Hard difficulty)
While in Spear Stance, whenever attacked there is a chance to randomly select a target, and after 8 seconds Astrid charges at her target for 7 seconds. If Astrid successfully hits that target during her charge, she deals damage to all targets in that target’s nearby area, and debuffs them with 3 stacks of negative effects from the skill “Puncture Wounds”.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-129.pngEarth Shatter
While in Club Stance, expend 2,000 Rage and deal continuous area damage to all enemies in a forward-facing fan-shaped area, lasts for 3 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-154.pngIntimidating Aura
While in Club Stance, whenever attacked there’s a chance to Silence the target for 3 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-127.pngBroken Wings
While in Club Stance, increases all damage dealt by 15%, but also increases all damage taken by 50%.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-126.pngWeapon Swap
At battle start, Astrid will use a spear to battle. After being in Spear Stance for 60 seconds, Astrid will switch to Club Stance. After being in Club Stance for 60 seconds, Astrid will switch to Spear Stance. Astrid is invincible while switching.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-112.pngRoyal Bloodline
After being in battle for 300 seconds, all damage dealt is increased by 10,000%.

HOW TO BEAT ASTRID IN CEROLI CRISIS

  • Take note that you have 5 minutes to defeat Astrid, before her “Royal Bloodline” skill is activated and you melt like ice cream under a hot Sun;
  • I would recommend players to use the “Tank” role for the battle against Astrid. Your team should have at least two Tanks;
  • Conserve your damage skills and use them when Astrid enters into “Club Stance” and activates her “Broken Wings” effect. This is when she takes increased damage by 50%;
  • Astrid has a debuff skill “Puncture Wounds” which stacks. Once Astrid enters into her “Club Stance”, the tank that has been drawing Astri’s agro will signal “Tanks swap ASAP!” and that is the cue for the second tank to use his “Taunt” skill and draw the agro from Astrid away from the first tank. When in Club Stance, Astrid is under her “Broken Wings” skill effect and deals 15% more damage but takes 50% more damage. However, if the tank drawing Astrid’s agro has 5 stacks of “Puncture Wounds” with each stack increasing damage taken by the tank by 500%, Astrid’s “Broken Wing” skill effect will melt your tank faster than she takes damage. This is why switching tanks is so critical in the battle against Astrid;
  • At Hard mode and above, watch out for Astrid’s skill “Ways of Fire” skill. You will know someone has been targeted when you see the cue “Get away from the enemy!”. The targeted player (seen by the red arrow) should move away from the group and avoid getting hit by Astrid for 7 seconds, and the group should move in opposite direction to avoid getting hit by Astrid’s area of debuff once she comes into contact with the targeted player.

After being in battle for 600 seconds, all damage dealt is increased by 10,000%.

HOW TO BEAT FRIDA IN CEROLI CRISIS

Frida is a handful for a Chieftain. You need to be on your toes with this one as most of her attacks have area of effect (“AOE”)

  • Stay away from Frida’s AOE range;
  • When Frida enters Frozen Form, she becomes invincible for 60 seconds (i.e. you are not able to deal damage to her during this period). You and your teammates should move to a common spot to congregate Frida’s summoned troops and make your team’s AOE attacks count. You should pick a spot away from Frida as she will unleash a powerful attack once her Frozen Form ends;
  • The window of opportunity to deal serious damage to Frida is the 60 seconds after her Frozen Form ends. Save your damage skills for this window and unleash them when the opportunity arrives;
  • Use infantry units as Frida’s summoned troops deal less damage to infantry units.

After being in battle for 300 seconds, all damage dealt is increased by 10,000%.

HOW TO BEAT AK & HOK IN CEROLI CRISIS

  • In this Chieftain battle, there are two bosses (Ak and Hok ) on the battlefield. Ak and Hok draw on the same pool of health, which means it does not matter which one of them you deal damage to, you will still contribute to the defeat of this Chieftain round;
  • Ak and Hok will start the battle with one of them having Sun Power and the other the Moon Power. Being hit by Ak or Hok will mark your troop with the Chieftain’s Sun or Moon Power. Ak and Hok each have skills that deal additional damage to your troop if your troop had been placed under the marker of the opposite Sun/Moon Power. For example, if Ak has the Moon Power, and your troop is battling Ak, you will take additional damage from Ak’s skill if you are under the Sun Power’s marker. As such, to prevent the team from taking additional damage from Ak and Hok, the team should pull Ak and Hok to different ends of the battlefield;
  • The Sun Power grants one additional skill than the Moon Power for Easy and Normal mode, and its ability “Judgment Day” has a 20% chance to silence troops for 5 seconds when attacked, with a 10-second cooldown, which reduces your damage-per-second (“DPS”). The Sun Power’s active skill “Burning Glory” also deals damage to up to 3 targets in a circular area. The Sun Power’s third skill “Sundown Smash” gives the Chieftain an 80% chance of summoning a Kamikaze Sentinel when attacked. Clearly, the Chieftain with Sun Power is the one to avoid and you should focus your attacks on the other Chieftain with the Moon Power;
  • Even though the team should focus the attacks on the Chieftain with the Moon Power, the team will require one player to pull the Chieftain with the Sun Power away from the other Chieftain with the Moon Power, and this player should have a troop that can take sustained damage;
  • Ak and Hok will exchange their Sun and Moon powers every 90 seconds. If you are a damage-dealer, you should switch your target once Ak and Hok exchange their powers. The two players who are taking damage from Ak and Hok should remain to ensure that Ak and Hok stay separated;
  • The Chieftain under the Moon Power takes 50% more damage from cavalry units. So if your role in the team is to deal damage, use a Commander with the cavalry Talent and cavalry units;
  • Save your damage skills for the moment when the Chieftain with the Moon Power activates its ability “Starfall Might”, which gives you a 10-second window to deal 50% increased damage.

TORGNY

SkillsDescription
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-112.pngRoyal Bloodline
After being in battle for 480 seconds, all damage dealt is increased by 10,000%.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-148.pngFlametongue’s Kiss
Spend 1,500 rage to deal direct damage to all enemies in a forward-facing fan-shaped area, decreasing the march speed of all targets who took damage from this skill by 30% for 5 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-147.pngSaint Elmo’s Fire
While in normal form, after the battle has lasted for 30 seconds, incoming attacks have a 100% chance to provoke a circular area of effect attack centered on this commander, taking place after 8 seconds and dealing direct damage to all enemies in the area. Cannot move while this skill is in use. Can trigger at most once every 40 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-146.pngForce of a Thousand Storms
When Torgny’s troops are reduced to 75%, 50% or 25% units remaining, he will enter the Thunder Form for 30 seconds. While in Thunder Form, Torgny cannot move, is invulnerable, and will unleash an attack that deals huge damage multiple times to all governors’ troops after a few seconds. After entering Thunder Form, Torgny will choose a random enemy to target, and after a set amount of time will unleash a circular area of effect attack centered on that target, dealing direct damage to all enemies in the area. At the same time, Torgny will summon his guardian, who will leave behind a protective veil when defeated. Troops inside the veil become immune to damage from Torgny.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-149.pngEarth-shattering Roar (unlocks at Hard difficulty)
When attacked, there is a 50% chance to deal direct damage to the attacker. This skill can trigger once every 15 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-150.pngThunderous Curse (unlocks at Hard difficulty)
When Torgny’s troops are reduced to 25% units remaining, he will enter the Tempest Form for the rest of combat. When attacked in Tempest Form, Torgny will inflict a stackable debuff on the attacker, increasing the damage they take by 8% for 15 seconds. This effect can stack up to 40 times, refreshing the duration with each new stack. While in Tempest Form, Torgny will choose a random enemy to target every so often, and after a set amount of time will unleash a circular area of effect attack centered on that target, dealing direct damage to all enemies in the area. At the same time, Torgny will summon his guardian, who will leave behind a protective veil when defeated. Troops inside the veil remove any debuffs inflicted by Torgny.

HOW TO BEAT TORGNY IN CEROLI CRISIS

  • If your team has a high power tank, you should use DPS or Support role. The Support role has a nice primary skill “Blood Drinker” that provides 30% boost to your team’s damage for 30 seconds;
  • When Torgny enters Thunder Form, move towards the “red arrow” where his guardian will spawn, and defeat the guardian as quickly as you can, so as for the veil to appear and protect your troops.

WAFURA

SkillsDescription
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-1.pngTainted Blades
Deals damage factor 1400 to current target.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-2.pngTarget Practice
Up to once every 70 seconds, Wafura will throw 1 poison dagger and 1 healing dagger into the ground, dealing damage to all troops within their areas of effect. Any troops within a poison dagger’s AoE will take damage over time, while those close to healing dagger will recover 1% of units per second for up to 3 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-3.pngThrill of the Hunt
Same effects as Target Practice, but Wafura throws 3 poison daggers instead of 1.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-4.pngFurious Volley
After a warning, 3 vertical rectangular damage zones will emerge from an edge of the battlefield, dealing AoE damage. After another warning, the damage zones will move and rotate, dealing AoE damage in horizontal rectangular zones. This skill can trigger up to once every 40 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-5.pngCall of the Wild
When Wafura’s troops are reduced to 25%, he will enter the Wolf King form, increasing attack of his troops by 50% and reducing their defense by 50%. When attacked, he will deal AoE damage in 8 randomly chosen circular areas. This skill can trigger up to once every 11 seconds.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-6.pngRoyal Bloodline
After being in battle for 480 seconds, all damage dealt is increased by 10,000%.

HOW TO BEAT WAFURA IN CEROLI CRISIS

  • Use cavalry troops and cavalry commanders for added mobility, as you need to move around the battlefield a lot in this battle.
  • Below is Wafura’s signal for his Target Practice skill (2 daggers), which looks like 3 exclamation points (!). Once the 2 daggers appear, move towards the green dagger for a heal.
  • Below is Wafura’s signal for his Thrill of the Hunt skill. 4 circular markers will appear, followed by him saying “No one can escape the hunt!“. Once the 4 daggers appear, move towards the green dagger for a heal.

Healing dagger (green dagger):

  • Watch out for Wafura’s signal (“Taste my rain of arrows!“) for his Furious Volley skill. You will need to keep moving if you are caught within range.
  • There is a safe zone on the battlefield from Wafura’s Furious Volley skill, which is at the extreme ends of the map. Lure Wafura to this area at the start of the battle. However, note that this safe zone will still be susceptible to Wafura’s Call of the Wild skill when his health reaches beyond 25%.

HOW TO BEAT DEKAR IN CEROLI CRISIS

  • Dekar is by far the most difficult Chieftain to beat in Ceroli Crisis.
  • You will need teamwork (and a team who knows what they are doing!) to beat Dekar.
  • When Dekar signals “God of Poison, release yourself”, he is using his Magic Marks skill, and each player will be marked either with a Lighting or Fire mark. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Players with the same type of Mark should come together and avoid players of the different Mark, because players of the same Mark gain Dekar’s Shared Blessings effect (increases attack by 20%) when they are near each other, while players of different marks are under Dekar’s Caustic Elements effect which deals 1,200 damage to all players every 6 seconds.
  • When Dekar signals “Come, my servants!”, he is using his Corrupting Poison skill, whereby 2 totems will appear, followed by a red zone around Dekar that will keep expanding until it fills the whole map. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Defeat both totems as quickly as you can, while being careful not to come close to other players who have different Mark from your own. Once both totems are defeated, the red zone will explode and damage players within the red zone by a damage of 20,000 multiplied by (number of totems alive + 1). This means you should focus on doing two things: (1) Defeat both totems as soon as possible so that the red zone is at its smallest when it explodes, allowing players outside the red zone to take no damage; (2) Defeating both totems will ensure any damage taken by players in the red zone will be minimized (20,000 only).
  • When Dekar signals “The chastisement of fire and lightning!”, he is using his Nature’s Course skill, whereby he will switch the Mark type of 2 random players. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: If you are one of the 2 lucky players whose Mark is switched, you should immediately move towards the group of players with the same Mark to avoid causing damage to yourself and your teammates.
  • When Dekar signals “The hunter has become the hunted!”, he is using his Cursed Earth skill, whereby the map will be divided into 6 equal pies, and players will take damage if standing in the 2 pies that are activated. The 6 pies will take turns to inflict damage to players by having 2 pies at any one time inflicting damage in a clockwise or anti-clockwise order. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Once you see Dekar’s signal at the start, pay attention to the 2 red pies that appear as well as the direction of the rotating arrows. You should move your troop to the side of the red pie against the direction of the red arrows. This will ensure that you minimize the distance you need to cover to hop onto a safe area. In addition, your team should already be organized into a Lightning team and Fire team even before Dekar’s signal has emerged, and both teams should avoid each other’s paths when moving into a safe pie zone to avoid taking damage from Dekar’s Caustic Elements skill. If done correctly, both Lightning and Fire teams should be in two separate safe pie areas.
  • When Dekar signals “Survive the trap, if you can!”, he is using his Eldritch Gaze skill. When the skill is activated, the map will be divided into square tiles, and a player will take 20,000 damage if he is caught sitting on a red tile after a countdown timer. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: You should move onto a non-red safe tile immediately but also avoid stepping onto a tile with other players of a different Mark as Dekar’s Caustic Elements skill is still in effect.
